Niamh Walsh DipNEBOSH recently completed the CIF city and Guilds Assured Temporary Works Coordinator Programme.
Temporary works are often a contentious issue on site due to the wide scope not being fully appreciated, for example shoring of an excavation, erection of non standard scaffolding, work platforms, loading bays. Essentially, temporary works are the site installations required to allow construction to happen but are generally removed and do not form part of the permanent structure.
It is important that those fulfilling the roles of PSDP/PD have an understanding of temporary works to allow them manage the design element and seek further information when required.
