Plant Decomissioning
Plant Decommissioning
This paint manufacturing site was being shut down and sold and required reinstatement to an empty industrial unit. The site was an ATEX site that had explosive and flammable chemicals within vessels and pipework. The chemicals required safe removal and legal disposal. The vessels and pipework required decontamination and disposal. The plant and machinery had to be electrically disconnected, and then mechanically stripped-out and disposed of. Some of the machinery had to be carefully removed and transferred to another site.
As Principal Contractor, we were responsible for ensuring the works were safely completed. We identified major ATEX and general construction safety risks within the scope of work. This was a high-risk project with the potential for fires, explosions, falls from height etc. We manged all aspects of the project, ensuring proper planning resulting in a project that was delivered against an agreed programme, on budget and safely.
