Utilities are as critical to pharmaceutical manufacturers as the equipment used in the process. Most of our projects take place on in-operation sites so we are experienced in designing and phasing work that minimises production downtime. Our Dublin office recently completed a project to design the replacement of end of life HVAC equipment. The initial driver for the project was a site wide energy efficiency programme. The project brought many challenges, including incomplete as-built information, planning around production campaigns and working in GMP areas. As part of the process, we undertook point cloud scans of the existing rooms and infrastructure to develop 3D models of the areas. This enabled us to work on the 3D model of site and minimise site interruptions during the design phases.
