Frozen Food Process and Packaging Line

The project was the upgrade of Heinz Frozen ready meal packaging materials to a new range of single and multi compartment plastic trays together with new carton designs and recipe enhancements.

This required the decommissioning and removal of existing packing lines, the purchase and integration of new packaging equipment into the existing filling lines within a planned one week line shutdown.

Malone Group was initially engaged to assist the Heinz project team to draw up Tender documentation for all new equipment and conveying systems which included defining scope, specifications, installation, commissioning and performance criteria followed by tender analysis and purchase agreements for successful tenders.

Due to the wide project scope requiring the complete redesign and change of packaging materials and equipment , which needed to be completed within a four month project timescale.

Malone Group was requested to draw up and manage a detailed daily programme for all elements of the project including:

• Packaging design
• Marketing plan
• Quality assurance
• Equipment build
• Factory acceptance tests
• One week de-commissioning and installation programme
• Commissioning and performance testing

All elements of this project were delivered and production re-established on time.
