Business Growth Triggers Upgrade of Office and Workshop to Increase Capacity

Providing M&E design support for the new facility to meet aesthetic and practical customer requirements in an industrial product design agency while ensuring a safe working space.

The business needed design support for a new retro looking facility

The company is a product design and consulting agency that produces designs for consumer technology, healthcare and professional companies. The company was at the time based in an industrial unit with an office and workshop facility in Ireland. However, due to successful growth of the business they had outgrown the space. The business was seeking for new ideas for the design aspect of their new facility and issued a tender for that.

M&E design support and working collaboratively with selected contractors for installation of the new facility

Malone Group won the tender to provide support for the M&E design aspect of the new facility. This included a second floor space in a new building, with a portion of the warehouse space which would need to be segregated into general office space. The business was keen to create collaboration spaces, meeting rooms, design rooms, director offices and a canteen within the facility. They were also keen to have a ‘retro’ look with exposed ceilings, buffed up steel with tiled floors.

The work that Malone Group delivered included integrating comfort heating, ventilation, power and safety systems, and Cat 6 cabling. We provided support throughout the construction and installation phase by developing the specifications in collaboration with the selected IT partners and with the customer. The warehousing space for the engineering team included lathes, milling machines, moulding machines and a spray booth. This obviously meant heavy loads and fumes which had to be segregated from the heating/ventilation for the rooms on the mezzanine floor upstairs. This area was designed to include a photography room, meeting rooms and collaboration spaces. We conducted a compressed air survey and gathered information to fit everything into the new space. Our work involved collaborating with architects, quantity surveyors, project managers and the design team, structural engineers, fire engineers to deliver a safe working environment.

The final outcome showcased the quality of the workmanship which was managed through contractors to deliver an inspirational working environment for the business and met the requirements set out by the customer.
