Malone Group and Ventac beat off stiff competition to secure funding from DIH2 through the Horizon 2020 Research & Innovation programme. Our proposal for Stitching and Taping Assisted by Robotics (STAR) was one of twelve selected following an extremely competitive process; from 400 applicants, 120 consortia progressed to the second stage of which 26 were selected to make a presentation to a European panel of experts. Tim Noone and Ian McDevitt led the application supported by Fergus Whelan, Phil Clulow and Mital Shah. We are also grateful to Irish Manufacturing Research for their guidance during this process, specifically Sabine Giron and Lise-Ann Sheahan. Our project will seek to advance the deployment and use of robotics by focussing on the acoustic panel taping and stitching activities. Integral to the success of this project will be the FIWARE platform and the mentoring provided by the DIH2 scheme.
