Protecting employees in the current environment weighs heavily on employers. Some roles can be undertaken remotely; some have the luxury of being able to work remotely and where that is not possible, it’s about layers of protection. We limit the number allowed in offices, maximise the distance between people, wear masks, have ample hand disinfection and a good office cleaning regime. We introduced a weekly antigen testing policy in April which has worked effectively alongside our other control measures. It is not a failsafe solution but plays an important part in reducing risk and protecting our staff and provides reassurance we are doing our bit.
In Ireland we are being asked to work from home again; the role of antigen tests in balancing precaution with economic activity, mental health and livelihoods needs to be recognised, endorsed and promoted.
